Our Firesteels are made with a Ferro rod and a steel striker is an excellent camping and survival tool. The bushcraft Firesteel is a spark-producing beast of an outdoor camping tool. In addition, this is the perfect firestarter for someone who wants a rugged campfire starting solution that can last forever (well, until the steel or Ferro rod wears out, maybe after 20,000+ strikes?).
We finish out the rugged design of this firestarter by paying homage to hardy and adventurous people by adding a metal Viking rune bead. Add this fire steel to your everyday carry gear.
If you are looking for a lightweight bushcraft fire starter, we recommend one of our firestarter necklaces as an EDC firestarter option.
A steel and ferrocerium firestarter is an excellent option for campfire starting. Ferrocerium has a low-temperature ignition point of between 302 and 356 degrees Fahrenheit. The lower the ignition point, the less energy you have to burn in creating sparks for a fire. Sparks from Ferro rods will ignite in all types of weather and altitudes.
- The ferrocerium rod measures 3/8" wide and 4" long.
- The steel striker measures 2.75" long.
- This item is NOT a light fire-starting tool-this firestarter weighs 2.4 ounces (68 grams) and could be considered bulky.
Primary uses include camping, survival, bushcraft, backpacking, long-term adventure trips, thru-hiking, car camping, and any time you need to build a fire.
Handmade in the United States with parts from overseas. Please note that the actual color and shade of the steel striker may change depending on supplies.
